“If angels could be jealous of men, they would be so for one reason: Holy Communion.”
-St. Maximilian Kolbe
We see glorious depictions in sacred art. We hear sonorous hymns, with the timeless words of saints, that sing endless praise for the incomprehensible gift. The mystery of the Eucharist is the "source and summit of the Catholic life."
And yet how often in the midst of the seeming monotony and repetition of everyday life do we underappreciate the very passion of the Blessed Sacrament that unfolds for us each week on the altar. The love of Christ's Sacred Heart that longs to be united with us each time that we receive Him in the Mass or gaze upon him in a monstrance at Adoration. How many of our ancestors would have given everything they owned for the chance of this intimate communion with their God?
Join us this January as we embark on a journey to discover Jesus Christ in the mystery of the Eucharist. Over the course of ten weeks, uncover in each class the ways in which the Holy Sacrifice of the Altar was foreshadowed through scenes in the Old and New Testament. Unpack why it is that we offer prayers like the "Lamb of God" in the Mass. Ultimately, come encounter the Jesus you receive each and every week as He invites you into a deeper understanding of His Body and Blood, offered out of sacrificial love for you.
