Catholic Stuff You Should Know is a Catholic riff on the podcast format brought to prominence by Stuff You Should Know. The podcast is hosted by a rotating group of priests from the Diocese of Denver who refer to themselves as the Companions of Christ. The podcast takes an intentionally lighthearted approach to some very important theological and philosophical questions intended to make the deeper truths encapsulated in them accessible to the average person. The episodes frequently begin with banter, intended to feel as if you were walking in mid conversation with some friends, this banter eventually gives way to the proper topic of the episode, usually proposed by one of the hosts. The hosts then discuss the topic, sometimes in great detail, other times as a surface level introduction to help the novice dip their toe in the headier topics without being caught in a theological riptide. They are very intentional to not be pulled towards an extreme, working diligently to express the concerns of both progressive thought and conservative understanding to help best express the happy medium we are so often called to champion as Catholics. Some of the episodes I would particularly recommend are"Episode 607: A Primer for Unsettled Lay People," "Episode 594: The Crisis of Faith," "The Liturgical Ideal of the Church," and "Episode 523: Don't Be Weird."
