It's a striking image that adorns our crucifixes at both St. Mary and St. Cecilia: our Lord on the cross in the moment of His Passion positioned above two of His most faithful disciples standing below, the Blessed Mother and St. John the Beloved. So often we can focus our attention solely on Christ in this, His moment of sacrifice that we may overlook the opportunity to reflect on the perspectives of these two faithful followers and the rest of those who surrounded Jesus in His final moments.
