Have you read through to the end of the Bible and then asked yourself "what happens next?" Maybe you've wondered on more than one occasion during the Eucharistic prayer, "who were those saints and marytrs, like Perpetua, Felicity, Cosmos and Damian?" Or perhaps this compelling question has come to mind: how did the Church grow and develop from her birth on Pentecost into who she is today?
For so many of us, our knowledge of Church history may consist of a general contextual knowledge of Old Testament stories, the life of Christ, and a spotty recollection of our World History class covering the Protestant Reformation 1500 years later. Particularly those early years of the church can remain shrouded in mystery and may often seem lightyears away from our experience in modernity. However, as we see the world become increasingly hostile toward the Catholic faith, we are invited to reflect on whether the experiences of our earliest brothers and sisters can find some resonance in our own time and offer some spark of inspiration.
Join us this fall as we embark on a ten-week journey to uncover the rich opening chapters of the age of Messianic fulfillment. Accompanied by theologian, Dr. Steve Weidenkopf, discover the perseverent faith of Christ's earliest disciples who battle heresy and murderous rulers, convert hearts, and lay the groundwork for believers for generations to come. Participants will also receive and be taught to use a color coded map to help orient them within the eventful 500 years covered in the course.
